Kia ora! I’m Tamatha.

He uri tēnei nō Ngāti Awa me Waikato-Tainui hoki. Ko Tamatha Paul tōku ingoa. Tēnā koe! I’m Tam. I was born in Auckland, raised in Christchurch and Tokoroa, and moved down to Whanganui-ā-Tara (Wellington) for University. Like many of my peers, Wellington has become my home.

My experiences have steered me towards creating positive change where necessary and crucial on the issues I care the most about.

Current projects & kaupapa:

I graduated last year in December. Tertiary education has always been very important to me as the first person in my whānau to attend and graduate from University. With years of hard work came the opportunity to represent the students of Victoria University of Wellington as the President of the Students’ Association, VUWSA.

Through my work for the student association, I have been able to improve equity of access to University and the environment that students at Victoria must navigate during their time there. This includes tackling student housing issues, addressing mental health and wellbeing within the student community, and fighting sexual violence through many initiatives and campaigns.
